Documenting the FEVER of a text is a skill that can lead to wonderful analysis of a literary work. This cross-curricular task is a favorite of Ms. King and is fun for the AP students. Last year's AP charts were on the novel Beloved, but this year's charts documented the setting, mood, and narrator in Charlotte Perkins-Gilman's "The Yellow Wallpaper." Presentations were thought-provoking and showed the students' perspectives on the classic story.

I met a few of my AP students at the Ben May Main Library today for the 2018 Mobile Literary Festival! The students pictured submitted either original photography, essays, or poems to be featured in Mobile’s Both Sides of the Bay Teen Magazine. We had a wonderful time meeting local writers and event organizers. My students were treated like stars, and several people encouraged them in their writing and academic efforts. Since 2014, this has been one of my favorite activities for my AP students. I also love supporting my city and fellow writers

The 2016 AP class got a chance to help Ms. King indulge in her "ROLL TIDE" Alabama football fandom! Students were asked to bring AL accessories to take a class photo.
We broke away for our focus on AP readiness to support our team in the NCAA Championship. Guess what happened? ALABAMA WON! Now, the hope is that everyone will find AP success. Here is to a winning semester! |
Ms. King greatly appreciates Matthew Morgan for taking the class photos. Spotlight on Matthew coming soon! :)

The current 2014-2015 AP class is reading Beloved by Toni Morrison. We had a day that was full of sunshine and cool breeze, so we decided to go outside and discuss the novel. This was a lot of fun and we are sure to do this again.
